Photos From The Shoebox
In the old days or back in the day as they say now, and before 'recycling' became popular, folks used to keep all manner of things in whatever storage container was handy - usually a jar, wooden crate or cardboard box that had already seen its primary use as a shipping container fulfilled. A popular place for photographic prints that never made it to a scrapbook, for today's photo albums had yet to appear, was a shoebox. Well-worn from regular handling whenever visiting family and friends could help put names to the unknown or long forgotten people and places etched on the print paper, the shoebox also often contained negatives that had served their purpose and enjoyed no further protection from scratches or fingerprints. Opening the shoebox was always a treat for the contents often harked back to 'the good old days' - thus the title at the top of this page.
